AnnouPale keeps the community safe through real moderation, verified accounts, private messaging controls, and tools that put you in charge of your experience.

Account verification

Every AnnouPale account is verified with a phone number or email address before it can post. This eliminates most fake accounts, bots, and impersonators before they ever reach the feed. We explain exactly what we do with that contact information on our verification page.

Real moderation

We have a moderation team staffed by people who understand Haitian Creole, the diaspora context, and the culture. Automated tools flag content at scale; real people review what matters.

When a violation is confirmed, we act β€” ranging from a warning to temporary suspension to permanent account removal, depending on severity. Serious reports we aim to address within 24 hours.

What we do not do

  • We do not use your private messages to train AI models.
  • We do not show surveillance ads based on private content.
  • We do not sell your data to third-party data brokers.
  • We do not share your phone number publicly or with other users.

Private messaging via Pale

Pale is the private conversation layer of AnnouPale. Direct messages between users are private. We do not read them, we do not use them for ad targeting, and we do not share them with third parties except when legally required.

Your controls

  • Block β€” prevents a user from seeing your content or contacting you. They are not notified.
  • Mute β€” hides a user's content from your feed without blocking. They are not notified.
  • Restrict β€” limits what a user can do on your posts without a full block.
  • Profile visibility β€” choose public, followers-only, or private.
  • Comment controls β€” choose who can reply to your posts: everyone, people you follow, or no one.

Reporting

Report any post, comment, or account using the in-app report button. Real people review reports β€” not only automated systems. If you need to escalate directly: safety@annoupale.com.

Appeals

If your account was actioned and you believe it was in error, you can appeal. Find the appeal link in any enforcement notification, or contact support@annoupale.com with your account handle and the decision you are appealing.

What we ask of you

Trust works both ways. We ask every member to read and follow the community guidelines, to report content that violates them, and to treat other members with the same respect you would want for yourself.
